Achievers

International:

Ammiel Bushakevitz, a past member of the South Cape Children's Choir from George, began playing piano at the age of five, passing his BMus degree cum laude in 2008,  and receiving the highest average of all BMus graduates at Pretoria University.

Ammiel has appeared as soloist with professional orchestras in South Africa, including the Cape Philharmonic, Johannesburg Philharmonic, KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic and the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa. He has also performed as a pianist in Milan, Turin, Leipzig, Zurich and Vienna.

Ammiel has since 2008 been awarded a formidable number of international musical prizes and scholarships, and is currently a Masters student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, Germany.
 

National:

Throy Petersen, a past member and accompanist of the SCCC, is currently completing his music studies at University of Cape Town, where he is respected for his musical abilities!

Chante' van der Westhuizen, a past member of the SCCC, is currently studying singing at University Stellenbosch! We wish her every success!


 

 


Choir Record Holders:

Kelly-Jane Peo has achieved the distinction of having sung in the South Cape Children's Choir for an incredible NINE years! She was also a member of the South African Youth Choir and began her tertiary studies in 2010 at NMMU. Her hauntingly beautiful alto voice is captured on the SCCC's 2009 cd, where she sings "Karoonag" by Coenie de Villiers. The SCCC thanks her for her overwhelming contribution towards the success of the choir.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Este Tait has shown extraordinary commitment and loyalty towards the SCCC by having achieved a 100% attendance record of all rehearsals, workshops and concerts for EIGHT consecutive years running! (2008-2015). Her achievement places her in a category of her own.

Este' is currently an administrative official of the SCCC, studies photography and works in the sound industry.
